This individual is capable of performing independent work in the care, treatment and rehabilitation of persons within the program. This person plans and conducts activities and counsels residents on an individual and group basis. He/she must be capable of understanding the full continuum of care. In addition, this person must have a broad understanding of how a program operates and how each resident moves along in the system.
Duties may include, but are not limited to, carrying out tasks in the therapeutic care, treatment and rehabilitation of chemically dependent persons, and/or persons with mental health problems, obtaining histories, assessing problems, preparing treatment plans, making reports and keeping records; facilitating and supervising individual and group counseling sessions, case consultations; writing letters, working with other social agencies, courts, prisons, gatekeepers, EAP, and managed care organizations, hospitals, clinics, in planning to meet the needs of clients and assist them in utilizing these resources; encouraging, reassuring and giving needed support; recommending educational and occupational training and/or possibilities for placement. Providing assessment and evaluations based on appropriate criteria.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for a full resident caseload which includes but is not limited to: treatment planning, psycho-social history and assessment, individual and group counseling, case consultations, concurrent reviews, aftercare planning and follow up.
2. Provide documentation and maintain clinical records according to the established regulations and guidelines.
3. Conduct intake and/or admission interviews as required.
4. Attend all staff meetings.
5. Attend, participate and when necessary, help facilitate all special events, such as retreats, trips, workshops, etc.
6. Conduct seminars and sessions as scheduled.
7. Be available for weekend and/or evening duty.
8. Support and demonstrate adherence to the Code of Ethics and Resident Rights.
9. Role model of pro social behaviors.
10. Maintain appropriate certifications and credentials.
11. Other duties that may be assigned by the Facility Director and/or the Clinical Supervisor.
Evaluation Process:
This individual will be evaluated on an annual basis
Minimum Requirements:
Education and Training
Degree from an accredited college that meets all requirements of licensing and regulatory agencies.
Required Experience
Associate’s Degree: Two (2) years
Bachelor’s Degree: One (1) year
Master’s Degree: Approved Practicum
Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC): Two (2) years
All experience must have been performed in the Human Services field.
